Oxford American’s fantastic annual music issue focused on South Carolina, and I contributed a “Liner Notes” essay on Linda Martell’s rendition of “Bad Case of the Blues.” I always admire the work in OA, but I look forward to the music issue every year, and I’m thrilled to be in its pages. The book is unsurprisingly excellent, also featuring work by Latria Graham and Ciona Rouse.
